CONTRIBUTING YOUR DATA

The type of data we are looking for include all quantitative measures of offtake from any wild terrestrial species. Examples may include:

  • Locations of the sampling points, as precisely as possible (with the coordinate system used, if possible);

  • Characteristics of each sampling site (e.g. rural / urban market etc.), including any available data on settlement characteristics (settlement size, year of settlement establishment etc).

  • Quantitative data (at the species level if possible) on offtake at each site and associated data. Offtake data is most commonly reported in terms of kilograms of each species or number of carcasses of a species. We are looking for data from:

    • Hunter follows/hunter recall/bag counts, and associated information on the number of hunters surveyed, and the number of days surveyed for, as well as the total number of hunters in the study site;

    • Consumption data, and information on the number of households surveyed, the number of days sampled, and the number of recall days, as well as the total number of households in the study site;

    • Market surveys, and information on the number of market days observed and % of the market surveyed.

If you think your data may be suitable for this project - we would love to hear from you!
